Joan Lenore Rosenbaum Gloekler, age 96, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. Joan was born on September 7, 1921 in Champaign, IL. She was the daughter of the late William Edward and Ellen Winifred Rosenbaum.
Joan and her family moved to Erie in 1924 where she graduated from Villa Maria Academy. She worked for the Penn Telephone Company for a short time prior to her marriage to Robert K. Gloekler in 1941. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Traut, and her brother, William E. Rosenbaum. She is survived by her seven children: Suzanne Esser (Robert), Patricia Sulkowski (Joseph), Robert (Virginia), Ellen, James (Donna), William (Patricia), Mary Phillips (Brad). Joan is also survived by her 20 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren.
Joan enjoyed reading, solving the daily jumble, and crossword puzzles. She found time to perfect sewing, needlework, and ceramics. Since she loved music, much of her time was spent listening to her favorites especially “Il Volo” and “Josh Groban.” Traveling anywhere especially her annual Fall leaf ride brought her much enjoyment. She made her last trip to her winter home in Orlando this past January.
Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, W. 9th and Liberty St. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 2-5 and 7-9 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
